Brokerage Staff (Waynesboro, VA)

The Brokerage Agent will utilize Visual Load Plus (VLP) and keep up to date our Transportation Management System (TMS) with scheduled shipping activities. Other duties include time management, the ability to multitask by keeping track of several shipments or requests for multiple clients in a fast paced environment. Attention to detail is a must. Brokerage Agent must possess strong organizational, computer and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Work with multiple customer needs at the same time. Identify the need for a customer to need the service of transportation from shipper to end receiver. The Brokerage Agent has to search for a truck to move the cargo. Works as the middle-man for both parties (shipper/consignee). Utilize online broker boards (DAT, Internet Truckstop, Get Loaded). Negotiate pricing with freight carrier and customer. Finding the most cost effective means of transportation (truckload or LTL). Schedule all aspects of pick up/delivery with shipper, consignee and carrier. Enter all loads in Visual Load Plus (VLP). Track shipment from time of shipping to final delivery and update Transportation Management System (TMS) with such information. Follow up via phone with end user for delivery confirmation and details. Gather all pertinent information and back up for load to turn in for billing. Reach out to customers (new and old) for available transportation needs. Keep track of Excel spreadsheets and filing based on loads handled.
Qualifications and Skills
High school degree or equivalent
Transportation, logistics or LTL / Truckload experience preferred
Superior customer service and typing skills. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.). Strong team player. Ability to meet deadlines without supervision in a fast-paced environment. Ambitious and positive attitude.
